Hello hockey skaters and goalies around the world, and welcome to another edition of the ride to the rink. This is Lee Elias, and we have a very, very special guest for you today. Kim Davis, who joined us on our normal broadcast of our kids play hockey this week, put together a little message specifically for you now. Kim Davis is one of the highest ranking officials, not just at the NHL but in hockey around the world. What she says really matters and has a lot of impact, and she wanted to share a message with you about the importance that you have, as the young hockey players out there, to be courageous, to pave a path forward for the game, and how much the NHL believes in you as you move forward on that path. Let's hear from Kim.
Speaker 2:First of all, I'll start by saying I get up every day with joy about being part of this sport because of what I see in the next generation of leaders, and I feel like everything that I'm doing now is paying it forward for that generation that will take the helm and will make our sport and our society better. They go hand in hand, in my opinion. I think it's really important that this generation continue to act on courage. Continue to act on courage. Nothing in life happens without those that are willing to stand up and have the courage to speak, and courage doesn't come without fear.
Speaker 2:You said it earlier, lee, that you know there are a lot of things that we are scared of, and in spite and despite being scared, we have to have the courage to persevere and to push through. And so my message to this generation is you know, stand for what you believe in, be a continuous learner, understand that there are a lot of people counting on you guys to take us forward. This country might feel very polarized now, but there's a bright future ahead because of who is going to be in leadership in the next 10 to 20 years, and all of us on this call for sure and many of us not on this call are counting on this generation to take the helm of leadership and to move our country, our society and our world forward.
Speaker 1:And Kim. I'll add on to that that the three of us you and me, mike we believe in you too. To these kids, right Like I think that's sometimes a message they might not hear enough that we're counting on you and we believe in you right.
